The overall objective of the ‘Millennium Youth Ambassadors Program’ is to complement UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, to support the active interest and involvement of youth of the Maldives in nation development. The program is inspired by the 3E’s of youth development, namely Educate (SDG4), Empower (SDG3 & 5) and Employment (SDG8). Also the program supports bridging the gap between informal and formal education system for the school drop outs. This program also facilitates youths to become future leaders in their respective fields and voices of youth from the country to enhance their common understanding of the shortcomings and achievements of the UN’s MDGs, and the potential and challenges of the new Global Post-2015 framework and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Till date, we have trained a total of 460 youths from this program in year 2016 & 2017. Young people from the Maldives is encouraged to support and become NGO’s Millennium Youth Ambassadors and to take action at local, national and global levels. Through an intensive leadership coaching program, this project will prepare a number of young leaders from the Maldives, to take lead and fill in decision level positions of the nation. Our target group for this project are young people aged 15 - 35 years old.
